Gabriola Island ...

Just a short 20 minute ferry ride from Nanaimo, or a 20 minute float plane ride from Vancouver, Gabriola Island is the Northern most island of the 'Southern' Gulf Islands (Fast Fact: during the 1990's the term "Gulf Islands" unofficially began to be applied to all the islands in the Straight of Georgia thus resulting in the use of 'Northern' Gulf Islands and 'Southern' Gulf Islands to distinguish between the two groups).
All the Gulf Islands are unique and Gabriola is the artsy one, otherwise known as the "Isle of the Arts", here you will find the ultra creative!
Also known as the "Queen of the Gulf Islands" and "Petroglyph Island" for its abundance of enchanting ancient stone carvings, Gabriola island is 14 km long and 4 km wide with a population of about 4200 permanent residents.
